This time next year we'll be millionaires!!!

Here’s what you missed........

Once again the Trotters are millionaires!!! I’m not talking about Del Boy and Rodney though; I’m talking about Neil Trotter and his wife from Surrey who were revealed as the winners of the £107 million Euromillions jackpot on Friday. It’s caused a little debate as some of you think it was a silly idea that he agreed to go public considering all the people who will now be begging for a handout. We were asking on Facebook if you’d won that amount of money what would be the first thing you’d buy????? The first thing Sharon would buy is a bodyguard, which would be understandable, especially if the whole world knows that you’re now a multi millionaire. A lot of you would buy a new house or go out for a celebratory drink. Personally the first thing I’d do is triple check that I definitely have the winning ticket, then I’d go out and drink my weight in champagne then in my drunken state phone all the people who’s ever wronged me and laugh uncontrollably down the phone, but that’s just me!!

Week 3 of my training and my mentor Steve Cram was back in the studio to give me more tips and advice for the upcoming week. He seemed pretty impressed with my progress so far and said I should’ve been able to achieve a 2 mile run without stopping. I’m nearly there.........I managed a mile and a half the other day so not far off! If like me you’re new to this running malarkey you’ll find Steve’s advice useful as well. Listen to all of Steve’s tips so far on our ‘Run Danni, Run!’ page. And don’t forget you can sponsor me at

Bacon, Sausage and Egg, oh my!

Here’s what you missed........

Considering yesterday was a school night, it would seem that didn’t stop some of you celebrating St Paddy’s Day in style and ending up hungover this morning! I thought that only happened if it fell on a weekend, but alas some of you were pretty naughty and now you’re suffering. However we did want to help and asked you to get in touch with your favourite hangover cures. Whenever Simon’s feeling the aftermath of the night before he can always rely on a big greasy fry up to make him feel better. I on the other hand somehow end up with very sensitive teeth after a skinful so the only food I can manage to eat is mashed potato! A lot of you on Facebook suggested drinking lots of water and bingeing on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. A few of you even agreed with Simon and suggested our hungover listeners treat themselves to a full English. Kevin posted a lovely photo on Facebook of his fried egg sandwich and said it will taste even better washed down with a cup of tea!

A little bit of information as well for those who think that they shouldn’t be eating a Full English because it’s not good for you; Simon found an article out today that suggests eating saturated fats isn’t a bad thing after all!! Apparently there’s no evidence of a link between saturated fat and heart disease. I suppose as long as they’re part of a balanced diet it should be ok. That’s good to know, seeing as I still haven’t been able to give cheese up for lent, it only lasted a couple of days!

Finally, another quick update on my Sunderland 10k training; I managed to run a full mile and a half last night without stopping!!!! I was also called Forrest Gump and knocked into a bush by a cyclist but every cloud I suppose! Don’t forget you can sponsor me at

Top o' the mornin' to ya

Here’s what you missed........

Well it’s St Patrick’s Day today, and I’m guessing the majority of you will know this date better than you do St George’s day........Anyway it’s much better when it falls on a weekend so we can all enjoy a wild night of drinking, singing and trying to do the Riverdance, but alas, today is Monday and therefore we all have work tomorrow morning, but it shouldn’t stop us making our coffees a little Irish this morning.

You might think we have no reason to celebrate St Paddy’s day but you’d be wrong. Did you know that due to Irish immigration during the industrial age when some Irish folk came to Wearside, they helped make Sunderland the biggest name in ship building? There’s a fun little fact for you today.

To celebrate, we kicked off the show asking you to give us your best limericks. Some of you on Facebook have some very poetic talents; however one or two of you don’t actually know how a limerick is formed. Simon gave you the first line and wanted you to finish it off; “There once was a manager called Gus.......”

My favourite was from Chris:

“There once was a manager called Gus,
Who had an impossible task when it came to us.
In the cup he took us all the way,
Where we all had an excellent day,
Whether we drop or stay up we're all aboard his bus.”

However, my favourite limerick of the whole day came from Kay who’s all the way in Dubai!!

“I have an app on my phone,
That brings me a bit of home,
From across the miles,
Sun FM gives me piles........
Of fun n' love in the sun."

Finally, just a quick update on my Sunderland 10k training. You’ll be pleased and perhaps shocked to hear that I was up at 8am on Saturday morning to go for a run!!!!!!! I was ridiculously chuffed with myself, although I’m beginning to ache now and I’ve started walking like John Wayne. Don’t forget you can sponsor me at

Hope you’re all drinking your Irish coffees this morning........I certainly am!!

Anyone fancy steak tonight???

14th March 2014

Here’s what you missed........

Hurraaaaaahhhhhh!!!! It’s Friday!

I’ve got Auntie duties to look forward to this weekend. It’s my niece’s 6th birthday party tomorrow so no doubt I’ll be dragged up at some point to help out with party games! Unfortunately a few of you on Facebook will either be working or doing housework, so I suppose I can’t complain. I loved Iain McIntosh’s weekend plans “work work work pub match pub pub work” I like how he’s planning on mixing things up! Simon’s adamant that his weekend will be starting tonight with “Steak Night”. It’s full title is too ridiculous to even type. Apparently today, 14th March, is a day invented by a lad (obviously) called Tom Birdsey who felt that men deserved a day where women could show affection to their partner by giving them a big steak and also doing that one little thing that most women only do on special occasions! I’ll let your imagination run wild with that, if you don’t know exactly what it is just Google it. Anyway, it’s a load of rubbish, the reason behind this day is that men show their affection for their significant other by spending ludicrous amounts of money and showering them with gifts on Valentine’s day so the men deserve a day in return???? Now hang on a god darn pickin’ minute, do women not buy men cards and gifts on Valentine’s Day as well??????????? So there!!!!! In your face Simon!!

And in other news, we had Hayley Tamaddon on the show this morning talking to us about the upcoming Dancing on Ice tour that comes to the North East in a couple of weeks time. She was absolutely lovely and even hinted that after each show all the stars will try to meet audience members as a way to thank them for all their support for Dancing on Ice! Selfie time!!! Don’t panic if you missed our little chat, you can catch it again on our Listen Again page.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Epic Fail!

Here’s what you missed........

It was the Prince’s Trust awards last night and it would seem that Joan Collins tried to recreate Ellen DeGeneres’s record breaking selfie. I’m being nice when I say she tried.......because she failed miserably! You must have seen the one Ellen tweeted when she was hosting the Oscars a couple of weeks ago. The selfie that was re-tweeted a record breaking 3.2 million times and ultimately crashed Twitter. It was brilliant and full of A list actors........Joan’s on the other hand wasn’t so good. Fair enough it had actors such as Sir Ben Kingsley and Jeremy Irons in it but first off, Prince Charles declined to pose for it, half of the other people had their heads cut off, it was blurry, and so far on twitter it's only been re-tweeted 346 times. Don’t panic Ellen, your record still stands....better luck next time Joan!

Steve Cram joined us in the studio yesterday to give me more advice while I’m training for the Sunderland 10k. Simon kindly reminded me this morning that he spoke to me about diet, and how cheese isn’t good for me. That’s because Simon spied a slice of cheddar on my desk today and threatened to throw it away. He thinks I’m ignoring the advice Steve’s giving me. I promise I’m sticking to Steve’s training regime and I know he said cheese wasn’t good for me but it’s only a slice, and technically he did say I need a balanced diet which of course would include cheese.......... Also, don’t forget that even though Steve’s training me, his advice the last 2 weeks is perfect for anyone taking part in the race. Listen again to all his advice on our “Run Danni, Run!” page.

Oh and just a little update that I’m on track with my training AND my diet, even if Simon disagrees, and I’d really appreciate it if you would sponsor me!!! I’m running on behalf of a great charity, the NSPCC Sunderland, and I know they’d also appreciate anything you could give!

Thanking you in advance!
