A man walks into a bar....

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Well today’s show has been a barrel of laughs..............Comedian Tim Vine has won the best joke award at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival and I really don’t know how. I think I need to see which other jokes were actually entered. He took the award brace yourselves:

“I decided to sell my hoover......well it was just collecting dust”

And pause for laughter (or tumbleweed). I was over the moon when the proper jokes started to flood in, although it’s a family friendly show people so jokes about Rolf Harris and Cliff Richard are a no-go.

Some of my favourites on Facebook were:

“I wrote a song about a tortilla. Well, actually it’s more of a wrap.”

“My friend recently got crushed by a pile of books, but he’s only got his shelf to blame”

We gave away more fun fair tickets this morning. It’s a guessing game really; I describe a fast rollercoaster and all you have to do is tell me how fast it actually goes by picking A, B or C. Now I know that a lot of you would like to win but please don’t resort to cheating! Yes it’s simple to get on Google and find the answer, but you’re only cheating yourself!

Tune in tomorrow for another chance to win fun fair tickets, football tickets and, you guessed it, a Sun FM mug!

It's been a while...

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

It’s been a long and very busy 2 weeks here at Sun FM towers, so busy in fact that I haven’t had time to keep you all updated. If you didn’t notice, Simon was away for 2 weeks so I was joined by John Morgan and boy did he keep me busy! Simon returned today and was much more awake and alert than I’d expect him to be after having long lie-ins. We’ve been going Style Awards crazy; nominations closed last night and we announced this morning the first of many acts booked to perform at the event; gorgeous American sisters ‘The Pierces’ will be joining us for a night of fun, frolics and fashion and keep tuned in all week as we announce more artists! Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro popped in to have a chat with me about their new album and the most important thing that’s happened since my last blog was........dun dun duuuunnn......I was named Employee of the Month....I was the only person left to win it but I’d like to think it was deserved.

Seeing as the football season has started again we’ll be giving you the chance to win tickets to Sunderland’s first home game of the season against Manchester United all week, as well as giving you the chance to win family passes to the North East’s Fun Fair at Herrington Country Park.

Keep tuned in all week as we’ll be announcing the lucky winner of Style Awards tickets! All they did was nominate someone for an award and if you don’t want to miss out on your chance to go then vote for someone when the shortlist is announced and you too could be rubbing shoulders with the stars!!

Animal Myths and Reincarnation

4th August 2014

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Simon’s off for 2 whole weeks, so jolly John Morgan will be looking after me while Simon’s away. He had to look after me properly this morning due to my escapades over the weekend. I’ve been entertaining friends since Thursday night and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself but I’m paying for it now........I keep forgetting I’m not 19 anymore and I can’t wait to have my afternoon nap when I finish work.

Today we were talking about animal myths and reincarnation. A new survey out today says that 32% of people would like to come back as someone else when they die. Personally I’d like to come back as royalty and if I could come back as myself there are plenty of things I’d want to change and I'd make sure I don’t relive the same mistakes.

Did you know that mice prefer chocolate rather than cheese, and that carrots are actually bad for rabbits?? I pride myself on the amount of useless information I possess. Just in case you’re really interested, a goldfish’s memory is much longer than 3 seconds and they can recall 5 months worth of information. Camels don’t store water in their humps; they’re full of flesh and bulls aren’t necessarily angered by the colour red because they’re actually colour blind. Just a few fun facts to start off you’re Monday morning. Enjoy!

He loves me, he loves me not..........

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Simon returned this morning after a nice relaxing day at Seaham Hall yesterday and it must have done him some good because he wanted to talk about luuurrrve!!!

Research out today suggests that it only takes 112 days into a new relationship for someone to say “I Love You”. Apparently men are twice as likely to be the first to reveal their feelings and surprisingly men are the ones who will remember exactly where and when those three words were uttered. I wasn’t surprised to hear that a Saturday night was the most popular day to declare your love, seeing as Saturday nights will probably involve a lot of alcohol which would give you the courage to say it. Seeing as it’s been sooooooooo long since I was in love (sniff sniff) we asked you on Facebook how long it took you to say it and who said it first. I was VERY VERY surprised to see that the men were the first to answer and they were actually very soppy with Nick Thompson replying to say he said it from day 1 and every day since.........(pass the sick bucket!)

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow when Simon will be announcing the 5th and final question, giving you the chance to win that season card for 2 so you don’t miss a home game this season. I’m off tomorrow so don’t worry if you can’t hear me.......Simon hasn’t locked me in a cupboard!

Humble Spectre's and Sunbeam Rapier's

30th July 2014

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Mr Grundy was off today. He said he had a meeting at Seaham Hall..............he probably will be there, but I think he’s just treating himself to a spa day; chilling out in the hot tub and walking around in his speedos!

Don’t fret though, Morgan returned to keep me company and once again I laughed from start to finish. He showed his age when he told me what his very first car was called; a Humble Spectre! I think it sounds like a Transformer! My very first car is actually the car I own now. I love my little Micra, especially because of the colour, it’s really fancy. You think it’s just a simple black car but when the light hits it, it’s actually purple! Seeing as I’m a woman, the colour was obviously the main factor in buying my car. Loads of you got in touch on Facebook and Twitter to tell us what your first car was and what name you gave it. Philip bought a Sunbeam Rapier for £7 back in 1970 and Ian had an Austin Maestro which actually spoke to him when he got in!!

The second football question was asked by Katie McClements today and Morgan really really wanted to give you all the answer, he always tries to break the rules. Don’t forget to keep a list of all the answers this week and on Friday you could win a season card for 2 to see Gus and the lads at the Stadium of Light.
