The LEGEND that is Dolly Parton!

30th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

As much as I’m not a festival goer I would’ve sold my soul to see my all time favourite singer Dolly Parton at Glastonbury. I watched her on the tele but it’s not the same!! She’s an all round entertainer and to be honest even if she did mime, who cares?!? She’s a legend and it was proven because she drew the biggest crowd over the whole weekend!! I was sat ready and waiting for her to belt out ‘9-5’ and by the reaction of the crowd, so were they. Well done Dolly, 68 years old and still topping the bill. Because Dolly is plastered across every newspaper this morning, we had to ask you what has been the best act you’ve ever seen? For Simon it was when The Boss appeared on Wearside. I’ve been lucky enough to see quite a few bands that have all been amazing so it’s hard to choose. It’s probably between, the Arctic Monkeys at Hard Rock in Florida, Coldplay at the Stadium of Light, and of course Dolly Parton at the arena. It would seem we have quite a few rock fans on Facebook; Thorsten’s favourite gig was Queen in Glasgow and David’s favourite was Metallica.

Sunderland’s Secret Sound is now worth a whopping £3000 and we’re hoping it’s guessed correctly soon!! Simon even gave you more chances than normal to win because we played it 4 times, however it still remains.

Tune in tomorrow when Simon will call Bulgaria as part of ‘Time for Tea’ and I wonder how many games of secret sound we'll play?

I need a man with a dog!!!

27th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Everyone knows I’m single, and Simon can’t help but remind me on a daily basis. At least today when he mentioned it, it was because he actually had some handy tips for when I go looking for a man. He found an article that lists 13 secret signs that will tell you what you can expect from a man you’ve been checking out (I suppose it’ll save me some time). Apparently if he owns a dog it shows that he’s used to putting others needs before his and if he has good posture it means he’s confident. He’s willing to work hard if he can speak another language and if he speaks with his hands it means he’s imaginative and creative. My personal favourite was that he should have ‘flexible thumbs’ and the only reason it’s my favourite is because I know exactly how to find out just how flexible his thumbs are.......when it was my birthday I got an amazing Star Wars Thumb Wrestling Game, which included miniature Light Sabers! So basically all I need to do is try and spot a man out walking his dog, who’s maybe speaking a little bit of Spanish, and ask him if he fancies a thumb wrestling match.................best chat up line in the world.

Rough Copy joined us this morning for a little chat about their new single ‘Street Love’ and they even treated us to a live acoustic performance!! It was brilliant and if like me you love reality TV then you’d remember they came 4th in last year’s X Factor. After listening to them live in the studio I’m now wondering why they didn’t win!!! They were a lovely bunch of lads and don’t panic if you missed it, you can catch it on our Listen Again page and we’ve uploaded the video of them singing live to our YouTube page, it’s definitely worth a watch.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend and we’ll be back on Monday!!!

#ChildSafetyWeek

26th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

It’s Child Safety Week this week and today the Child Accident Prevention Trust are trying to drive home the message about childhood poisoning. Every day, 70 under fives are taken to hospital with suspected poisoning after swallowing cleaning products. CAPT are today trying to get parents involved in something called a Bitrex Taste Test. Bitrex is in the Guinness Book of Records as the bitterest taste in the world and it’s something that can be added to cleaning products so that if a child puts it in their mouth, they’re more likely to spit it out rather than swallow it. Simon, Katie and I took part in the taste test and I’m pleased to say I’ll never do it again........it tastes like nail varnish and I can still taste it now!!!! Have a look at our YouTube page to see our reactions and for more information on Child Safety Week go to www.childsafetyweek.org.uk

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s show because we’ll be chatting to Rough Copy. If you’re not sure who they are, they were on the X Factor last year, a 3 piece boy band mentored by Gary Barlow and they finished 4th. I’m a reality TV addict so I can’t wait to meet them. They’re promoting their new song ‘Street Love’ and its fab; everyone will recognise the chorus.

We’re planning on calling Dublin tomorrow as part of ‘Time For Tea’, and this morning we called Poland, where we spoke to a very helpful man who has reserved a table for 2pm for me and my dog......I better get a move on and catch that flight!!

Luis Suarez returns in Jaws III

25th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I bet everyone was fuming they wasted 90 minutes of their lives last night watching the England game, when they could have been watching Jaws III.......sorry I mean Italy V Uruguay! You’d think with the amount of money Luis Suarez has, he would’ve been able to afford a sandwich before the game instead of trying to snack on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini. FIFA have opened disciplinarily proceedings against Suarez and he could be facing a 2 year international ban. I was absolutely gobsmacked when I saw it, and in my personal opinion he should be banned for life considering this could be the third time he’s done it!

On a lighter note, I think history could’ve been made yesterday when a 14 year old lad in Belfast broke protocol and managed to take a cheeky selfie with none other than The Queen. Another amazing story has got to be about local Wearsider Jack Watson who is doing a sponsored parachute dive this morning to raise money for 'Action on Dementia Sunderland'. The amazing thing is he is 91 years old and wants to raise as much money as possible because his wife suffers from the disease. You can easily sponsor him by going to our news page and clicking on his Justgiving link.

Good Luck Jack and Well Done, you’re an inspiration.

Is anyone bothered about the football anymore?

24th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I hope you didn’t miss ‘Time for Tea’ this morning!? We called Oslo because we found out that Katie McClements’ hidden talent is that she knows how to speak Norwegian. It was hilarious when she started having a full blown conversation with the lady on the phone; I think Simon was a little worried about what she was saying. Just in case you ever feel like phoning Norway just greet them with a little “Hei Hei” to get the ball rolling.

I don’t actually know if anyone’s bothered about the match tonight seeing as England will be on their way home soon. The one person I feel really sorry for is a man who lives on my street. Not only did he plaster his house with England flags but he painted, yes painted a red cross on his white front door..........I noticed the other day that the flags were down but unfortunately the paint remains!! A poll on Facebook and Twitter this morning showed that approximately 74% of you will not be watching the match, and the majority of those that will be are women........I wonder if they just want to watch good looking men run around in the heat wearing shorts?? With that in mind I think I might actually tune in.

And finally, a huge THANK YOU to Taylor and Lauren Greene who won tickets to see Robbie Williams. Not only have they brought us a thank you card but there is a big box of biscuits, a box of chocolates and a chocolate orange on my desk as a thank you from them to the whole Sun FM team. Believe me Taylor and Lauren, you’re very welcome.

Tonight Matthew I'm going to be..........

23rd June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I don’t know about you but I had a brilliant weekend! Not only did I get to celebrate Katie McClements’ Hen Party on Saturday night but Simon and I were broadcasting outside the Stadium of Light on Sunday for North East Live. We had a blast, although it was strange working on a Sunday. I was a little upset that I missed out on a Sunday dinner, and I woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday.....this is going to be long week.

I was over the moon to hear that ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ is rumoured to be returning to our screens with comedian Harry Hill taking Matthew Kelly’s role. I started reminiscing of when I was younger and every Saturday night the whole family would be sat round the TV and the entire night would be planned out from Big Break at 6pm till Match of the Day at 10.30pm. We asked you to get in touch and tell us which TV programmes you think should be brought back. Personally I’d love to see The Generation Game return to our screens. I used to love watching it with my dad and we always said we’d be on it one day. Chris got in touch on Twitter to say he’d love to see The Crystal Maze return, especially since he was actually on it back in the 90’s!!! The photo evidence he sent was comedy gold…………….vintage 90’s clothes and hair!!

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow; we’ve got another chance for you to win tickets to see ‘Avenue Q’ at the Empire and we’ve just found out that Katie McClements knows Norwegian..........guess where we’re going to call as part of Time For Tea!!!!

What is the saddest film of all time?

20th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Hallelujah it’s the weekend!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised that I woke up this morning without a hangover, especially after our brilliant work day out in York yesterday! Thank you to everyone who got in touch and gave us suggestions of what to do. We ended up going on the Ouse Cruise, seeing the Minster and visiting Johnny Depp’s favourite bar ‘Evil Eye’. We all had a lovely day and even managed to get back in time for the England game, although I don’t know why we bothered!

We’ve been asking you what film always makes you cry, because ‘The Fault in our Stars’ is out today and it’s been described as ‘the weepiest film ever’. That’s a very bold statement to make considering all the amazing sad films that we’ll never tire of, but it’s been out in America for a few weeks now and people are getting so upset by it that a handy guide has been released, advising you how to handle the tears. I really want to see it and I bet it’s really good, but I don’t think it’s going to be sadder than ‘Forrest Gump’, ‘The Notebook’ or ‘Saving Private Ryan’. Those 3 films make me cry like a baby. Loads of you got in touch on Facebook and Twitter to tell us your saddest film. The majority went for ‘The Champ’ or ‘Marley and Me’; although each to their own, Neil McBeth’s saddest film is apparently ‘Cool Runnings’...........

Catch you all next week!!

National Kissing Day

19th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Today is National Kissing Day, which of course Simon was pleased to hear. It’s a time to celebrate the art of kissing and encourage people to indulge in a little bit of lip smacking action.......although if Simon tries to plant one on me I’ll be having a word with HR.

I’ve been really looking forward to today as we’re off to York for a team day out. Now it’s not a school trip so I haven’t brought a packed lunch and I’m not planning on visiting the Railway Museum, in fact I’ve even seen a few cans of lager in the fridge and we’re already booked on the River boat (which has a bar on board). However we’re still unsure what to do for the rest of the trip? Thanks to everyone who got in touch on Facebook and Twitter giving us suggestions of where to explore; York Dungeons sounds like a good shout and so does the Fudge Factory. No doubt whatever we do we’ll have a blast and we’re bound to let you know in the morning. I’m hoping our trip down is going to be like the programme ‘Coach Trip’; I wonder if we get to vote people off??!!

Oh and just a little reminder........Sunderland’s Secret Sound still hasn’t been won!!! Please guess it right soon and put everyone on Wearside out of their misery........it’s so frustrating.

Secret Sound is ruining my life!

18th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Research out today suggests that your friends’ posts on Facebook can ruin your day!! Social scientists in California carried out a study to see what affect certain posts have on people. Seeing positive posts actually boosts your mood and seeing negative ones obviously make you sad. In fact seeing those certain posts can even lead users to sound happier or more fed up in their own status updates. So basically, don’t ruin it for everyone else; if you’re feeling sad don’t put it on Facebook. We wanted to make sure that your day started off with a smile, so we uploaded a photo of 2 adorable puppies which is bound to put a smile on your face.......cuteness overload!

Don’t forget we’re giving you the chance to win North East Live tickets all week, just tune in to find out which artist you need to listen out for to be in with a chance of winning. Oh and just if you hadn’t noticed, Sunderland’s Secret Sound is STILL going!!! The prize pot is now at a whopping £2800! I hope someone guesses it right soon, I can’t handle any more people asking me what it is. It’s not just strangers either, I can be out with mates enjoying a drink or a nice meal and they keep telling me what they think it is, I don’t know why, I can’t tell them if it’s right or wrong because I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!! I’m begging, someone please guess it right soon.

The Inventor of the Year award goes to...

17th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Today is the European Inventor Awards in Berlin and I think next year I will be in with a chance of winning. I’ve had an amazing idea brewing for some time now, I just need to patent it and I’ll be a millionaire. If like me you enjoy a long hot relaxing bubble bath at the end of a stressful week then I know you’re going to appreciate my little invention. In most cases I like to take a glass of wine in with me, it makes bath time that extra bit more relaxing. However, if you’re really relaxed you don’t want to keep hold of the glass all the time, and the sides of your bath might not be level enough to put it on so what would you do? Well my clipable wine glass holder will solve all those problems, simply clip onto the side of your bath and Hey Presto. If you’d like to see my well thought out blue prints just have a look on Facebook......I’ve put a lot of effort into them.

I had a few photos sent to me yesterday afternoon of people trying out my cake in a mug recipe and it actually works! Keep them coming, and if you’d like to actually bring me a cake into work I wouldn’t say no.

Tune in tomorrow to see which country we’ll be calling as part of our hilarious new game ‘Time for Tea’. I’m not lying, it is actually hilarious.

Baking with Danni

16th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I hope you all had a brilliant weekend, I definitely did! Not only did I have an amazing night on Saturday for my friend’s hen party but I was actually hangover free on Sunday and successfully made a lamb Sunday roast all on my own! My good daughter deed for the day was definitely appreciated by my dad. Not only was everything delicious (even if I do say so myself) but I was over the moon that my very first attempt at Yorkshire puddings went down a treat! Simon lost a few pennies betting on the horses at Hexham races with the missus and he was spoilt rotten on Father’s Day so a good weekend had by all!

I just know that everyone woke up this morning thinking “What else can I use my microwave for??" well don’t despair because I’ve found an article that answers that very question. Apparently you can use your microwave for so many other reasons than just heating up food. You can dry your tights, revive mascara and dry out herbs just to name a few. My personal favourite however has to be that you can use the microwave to make a cake in a mug!!! All you need is 2 oz of softened butter, 2oz of caster sugar, 1 egg, 2 oz of self raising flour and a few drops of vanilla extract; mix together until smooth and pour into a large mug. Simply place the mug in the microwave and cook for 2 and a half minutes until firm! I can’t wait to try it out this afternoon.

Don’t forget that all this week we’re giving you the chance to win tickets to North East Live! Keep listening every morning so you know when to give us a ring.

A Beginners Guide to The World Cup

13th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

If like me you’re not a huge fan of the football but still want to look and sound like you’re interested, I’ve found a perfect beginners guide to use so you can try and blend in easily in a crowd of football supporters. I can’t wait to try some of these out, but to be honest I don’t think they’ll make me sound like a footballing expert, but more like an awkward uncomfortable spectator. For example as soon as the match starts, this guide advises you to say at least one of the following: “Come on football!” , or “I think that we are going to be in for a great game” and my personal favourite “ I am enjoying myself”. If a goal is scored you should scream “what a goal, climb onto my back”. The guide also includes options of what you could wear to ‘blend in’. Apparently all you need to do is ‘sellotape a football flag around your face for an instant football effect’. This could possibly be the worst yet funniest guide I’ve ever seen.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, especially if you haven’t realised yet, but it’s Friday the 13th!!! Dun Dun Duuuuun!! Did you know that the fear of Friday the 13th is known as 'Paraskevidekatriaphobia' (try and say that 10 times fast), and it's actually a combination of 2 separate fears; a fear of the number 13 and a fear of Fridays! What could be scary about Fridays?! It’s the start of the weekend!

Enjoy your time off work and get yourselves down to Castledene shopping centre tomorrow to join me and Simon for a football fun filled day! Oh and don’t forget to spoil your dad on Sunday, it’s probably the only day of the year when you’re not allowed to ask for money or a lift!

Will I get a rash from drinking that??

12th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Simon finally returned today after his relaxing spa session at Seaham Hall and he thought what better way to start the day than phoning Portugal.......that’s right, we rang Portugal as part of our hilarious game ‘Time for Tea’. The man on the other end of the phone was absolutely lovely and really tried to explain that his cafe sold ‘Gorreana’ tea and NOT ‘Gonorrhea’ tea as Simon thought it was.The kind gent even told us we wouldn’t end up getting a rash by drinking his tea.

I found a brilliant YouTube video that’s gone viral in a matter of days. What would you do if you were stuck in an airport overnight all alone? Well the man in this video thought of a perfect way to while away the hours. Before the check- in ladies left, he kindly asked them for some luggage tape and seeing as he was literally the only person in the airport he sellotaped his iPhone to a wheelchair and used it to film himself singing along to Celine Dion ‘All by Myself’; it’s class and if you haven’t seen it, have a watch on our Facebook page. It got me thinking, if you could pick a song that describes how you’re feeling this morning what would it be? Mine would probably be Journey, ‘Don’t stop believing’ or even Pharrell Williams ‘Happy’, just because I’m in such a good mood.

Oh and if you didn’t know, it’s the start of that famous football tournament today in that South American country, you know the one we’re not allowed to mention?!

What annoys you most about your partner?!

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Back to work after a nice team building day out at Seaham Hall yesterday.....hope you didn’t miss me too much. We were learning all about listening, and Simon couldn't have been paying attention because he’s been told he has to spend a second day training. Personally I think he’s fibbing and in fact he’ll be sitting in the spa all day and no doubt looking forward to a massage after dinner.

Katie McClements made the mistake of telling John Morgan what her fiancé got up to on his stag do............ Basically he came home with a little yet permanent memento, I honestly found it hilarious!!! A lot of you got in touch to tell us what stupid things your partners have done that have annoyed you; Morgans wife kicked off with him once because he wallpapered the spare room thinking he was doing a good deed, but found out he’d hung it all upside down! Julie on Facebook told us of a time when her partner who was apparently really good at changing tyres changed hers and put the jack in the wrong place causing a huge bump in the car!

Speaking of cars, did you know that when it comes to finding out what the tyre pressure should be on your car there’s actually a little sticker on the driver’s door which gives you the answer!! Everyday’s a school day.

Simon should be back tomorrow once he’s finished relaxing......sorry I mean learning. If Simon’s back that means only one thing, ‘Time for Tea’ will also be returning so don’t miss it.

They think it's all over.......it is now!

9th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

We kicked off our new competition today giving you the chance to win a brand spanking new HD LED Smart TV to watch all the England matches on. If you haven’t heard, all you have to do is send us a selfie showing the new Sun FM England car sticker in your car, with the registration and your pretty face. If you tune in every morning and hear your registration read out, just give us a ring and you’ll qualify to play my little game. The game’s pretty simple; I’m going to read out a well known piece of football commentary and all you have to do is tell us which famous footy match it’s from. Today’s piece was “Some people are on the pitch.....they think it’s all over....it is now!” Now I’m not much of a football fan but even I knew when that was from, however it took Yvonne from Pennywell a little longer to guess it correctly! I think you could actually hear the cogs turning in her brain. Anyway she got it right and knew it was from the 1966 final when England beat West Germany so she now goes in to Friday’s draw to win that tele.

Simon and I are off tomorrow so you’ll have the pleasure of listening to John Morgan in the morning. We’re off to some sort of team building work day out which I’m actually looking forward to; I wonder if I need to take a packed lunch like you would on a school trip to the farm......I hope so......cheese and pickle sandwiches and a packet of crisps!!

Catch you all Wednesday morning!

Catch Sun FM on TV!!!

6th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I think the entire Breakfast team will agree with me when I say that today has been an experience. Cramlington comic Ross Noble is currently filming his new show ‘Freewheeling’ where he tours the country on his bright orange motorbike. The main thing that makes this programme unique is that he relies on his Twitter followers to give him ideas of where to go and what to film. When we found out he was filming in Sunderland we asked how we could help out and invited him to join us for a little chat. He brought the entire TV crew in from ‘Dave’ and I couldn’t believe how many cameras, microphones and actual people he has following him about. He’s in Sunderland because a fan of his contacted him to say he was due in court this morning and Ross decided to take it upon himself to come along and try to help him out. We had to refer to the lad as ‘He who must not be named’, but don’t worry it wasn’t Lord Voldemort. Ross wanted to try and rally as many Mackems as possible to get themselves down to the court and try to make it out as though it was the biggest crime of the century!!! I honestly can’t wait to see what gets aired on the show and I can’t believe Sun FM’s going to be on tele.......I actually made an effort for work this morning and put make up on! If you missed our little chat with Ross don’t panic you can catch it again on our Listen Again page, and believe me it’s definitely worth a listen; we had people tweeting in to say they weren’t planning on leaving the car until the interview had ended because they didn’t want to miss anything!

I hope you all have a fab weekend, and I hope ‘He who must not be named’ got on OK in court......Tune in on Monday for another round of ‘Time for Tea’ and we’ll also be kicking off competitions to win a 32” TV and tickets to Ladies Day at the races.

Where do babies come from?

5th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

I’m not a parent so I don’t have to worry about being asked questions from my kids such as “Where do babies come from?” although my niece is very curious about everything and actually asked my mam that very same question, to which she answered, “Ask your mammy.” An article out this week has listed some of the questions kids have asked their parents and to help if it happens to you, they’ve even included the best answers to use. One little 4 year old even asked NASA “How many stars are there in the sky?” and NASA kindly replied “Too many to count.” We wanted to know of any questions you’ve been asked which caught you off guard and how you managed to answer them. On Facebook, Nita Tennant was once asked “If you put contact lenses inside out can you see your brain?” and after ‘ladies essentials’ were advertised on TV, Julie Ramsey was asked by her son “Why do women need to wear nappies?” OMG!!

Not wanting to blow our own trumpet but this morning’s been such a hoot I haven’t stopped laughing. For round 4 of ‘Time for Tea’ we called a nightclub in L.A and asked them if any of their cocktails had a tea bag in..........the poor lad on the end of the phone didn’t have a clue what was going on which only made it funnier.

And finally, we had American duo MKTO on the show this morning, talking to us about their new single ‘Classic’. They thought Simon was hilarious when he tried to talk ‘street’!!! I love it when he thinks he’s ‘down with the kids’. If you didn’t catch it, get to our Listen Again page and give it a whirl.

Who is the sexiest woman of all time?

4th June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Important news for all you lads this morning, FHM magazine have released their top 100 sexiest women of all time list. Now it’s not your usual sexiest women list, this is apparently the sexiest women OF ALL TIME!! I would never have expected to see Rachel Stevens, former S Club 7 member top the poll, she beat off people like Kelly Brook and Jennifer Aniston. I would have thought that the list would’ve included people like Marilyn Monroe or Heidi Klum and a lot of you, men and women, got in touch to tell us who you think should’ve been number 1. Thanks for the serious suggestions like Sandra Bullock and Rihanna, although there were a few who suggested Susan Boyle and even me!!! Believe me there’s not enough air brushing in the world that could make me number 1.

I’m really looking forward to tomorrows show because we’ll be joined by ‘MKTO’. “Who’s that?” I hear you ask, well they’re an American duo who have done really well in America and Australia and they’re hoping to do the same in the UK. We’ve played their new single ‘Classic’ a few times and it’s really catchy! They’re only young lads, and very good looking lads too!!

Tune in tomorrow when we kick off round 3 of ‘Time for Tea’, our hilarious new competition giving you the chance to bag yourself a one of a kind Sun FM mug! Let’s give Los Angeles a ring shall we???

Movie Madness

3rd June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

You all know how much I love 'Star Wars', so you wouldn’t have been surprised when I was very happy that 'Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back' has been voted the greatest film of all time by Empire magazine. They released a top ten list which had been voted for online, (which I didn’t participate in by the way). I wasn’t surprised to see ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ or ‘Jaws’ in the top ten, however there were a couple of films I thought would definitely have made the top 10 such as ‘Saving Private Ryan’.

Another film which wasn’t included in the top 10 was ‘Back to the Future’, an 80’s classic, but don’t despair, I’ve heard even better news regarding this amazing film!! Basically there’s a company in London called ‘Secret Cinema’; they turn an abandoned building into a well known film set, act out parts of the film and then you watch the film after. The reason it’s a secret is because you never know what film it’s going to be. Well the cat’s out the bag this time as apparently the next project is to build the town of Hill Valley, giving participants the chance to ‘visit’ 1955, 1985 and 2015. Not only does that sound amazing but after you’ve watched the film there’s also going to a be an ‘Enchantment Under the Sea’ after party!!!!!! I’ve been lucky enough to go to one of these events in the past when they re-enacted ‘The Shawshank Redemption’; it took place in a prison and we were all dressed in 1920’s prison clothes......it was amazing!!

In other news, we’ll be calling Australia in the morning just to have a little chat about tea…………don’t miss it, it’s bound to be hilarious and you can also win a Sun FM mug, it’s so simple.

Time for Tea

2nd June 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Mr Grundy returned from his holidays today and we kicked off what can only be described as a hilarious new competition giving you the chance to bag yourself a brand new Sun FM mug. It’s called ‘Time for Tea’ and it’s so simple to win. Every morning we’ll be phoning a place anywhere in the world that sells tea and all you have to do to win is correctly guess the sex of the person who answers the phone. Now that doesn’t actually sound funny but as you know Simon’s always up for a little chat and that’s exactly what he did. He decided to call the Hilton hotel in Rome and asked what type of tea they sell, the poor woman on the end of the phone didn’t have a clue what was going on which just made it funnier. For some reason though Simon kept asking her if she’d put the tea bag in and he kept giggling.........Anyway well done to Karen, your mug will be in the post, although it might not get there in one piece.

We had even more laughter on this morning’s show when we asked you to tell us of any ‘blonde moments’ you’ve ever had. We wanted to know because research out today has apparently proved that hair colour has no impact on intelligence or personality. Our favourite came through via text where a gentleman who wished to be nameless kindly told us that his partner woke up one morning and shouted, “Shut that garden gate, it’ll stop the birds getting in.......” Bless, she must have been thinking of all those flightless birds that hang around our gardens.

Tune in tomorrow for round 2 of ‘Time for Tea’, I love any excuse for a giggle.
