Danni Loves Adam!!

22nd January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Well day 2 of creating my very own Invisible Boyfriend, and he’s complete! I finally decided on a name (Adam Burke), his age (29), and chose his interests, what he looks like and how we met. It took much longer to decide on things than I expected. A lot of thought went into my decisions and I’m actually pleased with the final outcome. All that’s left to do is pay for him, which Simon has kindly offered to do for me. If you want to see what Adam looks like then check out the photo below. I’m intrigued to know what his voicemails will sound like, and for £25 a month I hope he sends me flowers for Valentine’s Day! Just so you know Adam, I like tulips.

Also on the show we were asking you for break up advice. Don’t worry, Adam and I haven’t broke up yet, but I hope we last longer than Sam Smith and his model boyfriend did. By the looks of things, they’ve broke up after only 2 months. Sam’s posted a photo of himself on Instagram looking a little down, with the caption “You live and learn”. I know from personal experience that at the moment he’ll be sad, then he’ll be angry and then he’ll probably spend a lot of money on unnecessary things and then get a new hairstyle! The best advice on Facebook came from Thorsten; “There’s plenty of fish in the sea”.

Tune in tomorrow when Free Fuel Friday returns and we’ll also be giving away free tickets to the cinema.

Who wants an Invisible Boyfriend?

21st January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Everyone knows I’m single, and to be honest I’m used to being alone on Valentine’s Day. I was even planning on buying myself a bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates and spending the day in bed watching comedies. However if unlike me, you’re not looking forward to being on your own then fear not fellow singletons, I have found the perfect app to keep you company. It’s called the Invisible Boyfriend, and although there’s a monthly charge, you get to create your dream man from his name, down to a back story on how you met! Not only that but he’ll text, call and even write you love notes. Oddly enough, Simon has agreed to pay the monthly charge so that I can create my very own dream man. The first question is ‘What is his name?’ and I still haven’t answered it yet! You’d think it’s pretty easy, but it’s actually really hard to think of what your dream man would be called. I guess it’s similar to picking a name for your unborn child, and that can sometimes take up to 9 months! I’ve decided on a surname (Burke) I just need a first name. You might think I’m odd, but if I ever get married, I’d love to be married to someone whose surname is Burke, it’s one of my favourite words! Thank you to everyone who sent in suggestions of what I should call my dream man and yes, I know Simon has said he’ll pay the monthly charge, there’s no way I’m calling my invisible boyfriend Simon, that’s just weird.

Tune in tomorrow so see if I’ve decided on a name, and you can all help me answer the rest of the questions! You can also have a go at guessing what the secret sound is.....only if it isn't guessed correctly today. Although considering it took 7 months to guess it right last year, god only knows how long it's going to take this time round.

#BlueMonday

19th January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Today is known as ‘Blue Monday’ because it’s the time of year when you realise you don’t get paid for another week and you start receiving all those credit card bills from Christmas. To try and cheer you all up, we’re playing nonstop feel good tunes to keep you feeling upbeat. Surprisingly, I woke up feeling very cheery this morning, probably because it looked like a winter wonderland outside and I love the snow.

To guarantee you have a good day I found a list of 7 things to do today to boost your happiness. From exercising to catching up with friends these handy tips are simple and easy. My favourite of course was Number 3: Eat comfort food – that’s right, you’re advised to eat the food that makes you happy, because after all, today is Blue Monday so you need to do things that make you smile. Looks like I have an excuse to gorge on cheese and mashed potato!

Another way to try and be happy today is to make yourself and other people laugh, and we did that by asking you to send us your best jokes. My favourite on Facebook was sent in by Lindsey: What is a pirates favourite shop? .............Aaaargosss

Don’t let Blue Monday get you down – do something that makes you smile, and remember laughter is the best medicine.

How often do you argue with your partner?

8th January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

On Facebook and Twitter we’ve been really nosey and asked you to tell us when the last time was that you and your partner argued and what it was about. It’s because research out today says that couples argue at least 32 times a year, mainly over clutter! At the time, your argument could have been really important and very necessary, however reading them back on Facebook this morning I guarantee you found them funny. Nikki Cunningham argued with her partner because he decided to take his laptop apart after realising he was a computer genius......3 weeks later and he still hasn’t put it back together. Lesley told us she and her husband argued because she got a question correct on a game show the other day and her husband was adamant she was wrong, even when the answer came up on the screen!! Thankfully I’m still single, so the only person I get to argue with is myself!

We’ve been saying all week that ‘What’s in Danni’s Mouth’ will be coming to an end tomorrow to make way for Sunderland’s Secret Sound, however Simon can’t let it go because it’s his favourite game! So be prepared for a fun filled action packed show starting on Monday! Speaking of what’s been in my mouth, have you ever put a full packet of sherbet in your mouth at once? Well this morning I did and I completely forgot that after a couple of minutes it starts to turn into foam, similar to the type of foam that’s injected into walls!! It got to the point where I couldn’t actually describe what was in my mouth and Simon had to do it for me.

Tune in tomorrow when we’ll be speaking to the winner of our Flying Home for Christmas campaign, Julie Richards, who’s been back on Wearside for nearly 3 weeks and due to return to OZ on Sunday.

Simon Grundy is The Great Gatsby

7th January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Can you believe we’re already 7 days into the New Year........2 weeks ago today it was Christmas Eve. I hope you’ve all taken your Christmas decorations down. I’m not entirely sure why it had to be done yesterday. Is there a law I haven’t been made aware of? Fingers crossed you’re all getting on well with Dry January and you’ve kept to your New Year’s resolutions. I’m doing well on both counts; I haven’t had a drink in 5 days and I’ve had porridge for breakfast and planning on having a salad for dinner. I’m a new woman!

On Facebook and Twitter we’ve been asking you all morning, if you could have grown up in any decade which would it be and why? Simon has always wished he could’ve have grown up in the 1920’s after seeing Bugsy Malone. He also thinks he would’ve been like the Great Gatsby and apparently he’s a professional Charleston dancer. Personally, I’ve always wished I could’ve grown up in the 1940’s. Yes there was a war going on, but that’s one of the things that interests me. I also love the fashion and the music, and something you’d probably never guess about me; I love Glenn Miller’s music. The majority on Facebook chose the 1980’s because of the music, films and TV shows.

What’s in Danni’s Mouth is nearly at an end. You’ve only got 2 chances left to win what has been in my mouth. It’s sweet week for the final week of the competition and today’s confectionary was marshmallows. I could hardly say a word, which Simon obviously thought was hilarious.

Tune in tomorrow for the penultimate round of What’s in Danni’s Mouth, and Simon might even play out the secret sound which is returning on Monday.

Welcome back to work!

5th January 2015

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Happy New Year everyone!! I know we’re already 5 days into the New Year but this is my first day back. I had a fantastic time in Cardiff and now I’m taking part in Dry January, not to raise money this time, just to give my liver a rest; it only started on the 3rd but 2 days in and I’m doing well.

I hope you’re all ridiculously happy to be back at work after a relaxing couple of weeks off......NOT. I’ve only had 5 days off work and it took a lot of effort for me to get up this morning, so god only knows how those of you who had 2 weeks off have managed. A lot of you got in touch on Facebook and Twitter to vent your frustration by using only one word to describe how you’re feeling today. I’d say 98% of you are either frustrated, tired, knackered, or sad, and only 2% are surprisingly looking forward to getting back into a routine. I suppose now is the time when we have to actually know what day of the week it is.

What’s in Danni’s Mouth has returned for 2015 and it’s your last chance to win what has been in my mouth. We’ll be putting it on hold as we have something bigger starting on Monday. It’s something that can last quite a while, you could win a lot of cash, and it’s something that will annoy the heck out of everyone on Wearside, especially me seeing as I never know what it is, so don’t ask!!

I hope your first day back at work won’t be too bad. As long as you remember how to get to work and remember your log on details then you’re off to a good start.
