Mark Thorburn Mon - Fri: 3pm - 7pm / Sat: 10am - 2pm

I’ve been in this silly radio biz since 1984 which is quite scary really… I mean, when I finally get found out what will I do?! I fear I could be literally good for nothing!  I like to think I have an unusual take on the world and am happy to draw people into my quirky weirdness, but be warned, you may end up thinking in the same way I do... It’s an interesting journey.  When I’m not on the radio I’m busy with family and historical interests, if it’s old, dusty and preferably nautical you’ll find me up to my ankles in it especially anything nautical or aeronautical.  Musically I’m still lost in the 80’s. O.M.D, Human League, Gary Numan and  Depeche Mode will keep me quiet for ages, I still have slightly pointed  feet from spending my formative years dressed in black wearing winkle pickers.

On The Show

Mark presents our drive show, so he's the guy keeping you sane while you run around like crazy picking the kids up from school, do the shopping, or battle the traffic home from work.

As well as great music, Mark has plenty of chances to win, if you manage to get a minute to yourself to ring in that is!

On a Saturday, Mark will keep you up to date with the footy scores if there's a match on, whilst making sure he keeps the tunes playing if you're not so bothered about 11 guys kicking a ball around.

Mark also attends many annual events including the Sunderland International Airshow, the Peterlee Show and our very own Local Hero Awards and Business Awards.
