Spotlight on Sunderland

Royal Society for the Blind

Sunderland and North Durham society for the blind is one of the oldest societies in the country,

being formed in 1877. The society is here to help blind and visually impaired people with a range of services from

specialist equipment, holidays and outings, various clubs and support for people with sight problems. They have a

full programme of activities which help blind and visually impaired people lead a full and independent life. It is not

just for older people either, they have recently set up a young persons group which have activities more suited

to them. They are a small team who are always looking for volunteers and are also looking to raise some funds

through a nearly new shop. They need a shop premises for a short space of time, a couple of weeks, to sell the

items they have collected, if you can help in any way e-mail office@sundrsb.org.uk You can also find out more

about the work they do by logging onto their website at www.sundrsb.org.uk
