Entries are now open for the 2017 Siglion Sunderland City 10k and Half Marathon! The Run Sunderland Festival will take place on Sunday 7th May at Keel Square, a symbol of the city’s renewal and regeneration, following a successful move into the City centre in 2016.

We are looking forward to welcoming back many of you who have taken part over the past six years to join in the celebrations, along with newcomers looking for a new challenge.

With spectacular coastal views and a brilliant atmosphere, although we cannot guarantee the weather, we can guarantee a superbly organised event with plenty of support on the route and an army of enthusiastic volunteers to make it a great day for all taking part. All participants will receive a t shirt, medal and goody bag. There is also limited parking, baggage services and plenty of fun activities for those not taking part.

2 weeks to go, nervous now

Hiya, so 2 weeks to go then. Decided I wanted to watch the London Marathon on tv, not for tips as such but for inspiration, and mainly to see the elite runners and shout 'come on, whats for secret!'. Just seen Sunderland's own Aly Dixon heading past 13miles after 1hr on her way to another PB! She also trains with Totum Sport like I do. Not that I am saying I am in her category, I wish! But it works a treat for Aly and works for me!

So I headed out at 0800 to do my longest run yet, a 9k, which I have managed in 59mins. My aim is 10k in 1hr, so i need to stave a few mind off somewhere....!

I have been off all week from work, after Easter, and decided that as well as having some good family time, I needed to get a 4 or 5 decent runs in this week. I have done too, 2x5K's, an 8k and a 9k this week. 

I think the trick today was having two packets of Totum Sport beforehand. Totum product

It really helps with those points where your legs start to hurt. Minerals into your body, really quickly absorbed. PLUS if you don't want to feel awful all day afterwards, drink one afterwards, to help with recovery. I don't feel rubbish anymore afterwards, I feel amazing, its ridiculous, but it's true! 

So next week, 10k at the weekend, and then on May 7th, the big day is here. Nervous, a little. Excited, definitely!
