What did you do for 'Work Experience'?

30th May 2014

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

It was Morgan’s final show this morning and as expected we had a blast. He was talking about how his son is deciding where to go for ‘Work Experience’ and John mentioned how his first work experience was spent in a Butchers, where they locked him in the fridge and made him wipe down the benches covered in blood!! Loads of you got in touch to tell us what you did for work experience; on Twitter Sarah Gill spent a week as a Magician’s Assistant and Caroline Weight told us of the time she spent at a vets where her first task was to groom a dead dog so the owner could bury it at home!! I loved my work experience at M&S but I despised my first job; it was in a fish shop and I only lasted a day it was disgusting! We all know that wrapping up a fish lot is an art but I was left to my own devices and at one point needed sellotape to stop it from falling apart!

Congratulations to Lesley Kime who was the highest bidder yesterday and now gets to take home her very own cardboard cut out of Harry Styles! To continue the One Direction frenzy we gave you the opportunity to have Harry Styles in your living room, or bedroom whichever you preferred. All you had to do was bid on our life size cut out with all money raised going to the NSPCC Sunderland. Thanks Lesley, you’ve added a nice £41 into our charity tin.

We’ve still got a shed load of Sun FM mugs and we’ve finally decided on how to give them away, so tune in on Monday to find out how to win one. Oh and don’t forget, Grundy will be back from his jollies!!! I wonder what he’s bought me for a Euro?

Who wants Harry Styles in their living room??

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits last night, not even those brilliant 1D boys who entertained the crowds nonstop and got absolutely soaked. My memorable moments have to be dancing along to the Macarena before the lads came on stage, Niall trying to imitate a Mackem accent, Harry falling over in the rain, Liam trying to slide across the stage and failing miserably, the brilliant fireworks and all the red and white streamers! Thank you lads for an amazing show, you didn’t disappoint.

For one lucky directioner, the fun doesn’t have to end. We’re giving you the chance to have your very own Harry Styles life-size cut out in the comfort of your own home. Harry’s been hanging around the studio for ages and it’s time he moved out. To be in with a chance of winning him all you have to do is go to our Facebook page and post a bid on the photo of Harry. The highest bidder at 5pm will get to keep him and all money raised will go to our chosen charity of the year, the NSPCC Sunderland.

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for your last chance to win premier tickets to Northumberland Plate Day at Newcastle Races. It’s also John Morgan’s last show tomorrow so we’ll have to make sure he has a good send off.

1D Day!

28th May 2014

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Today will now be known as 1D Day!!! It’s finally here, the day most of Wearside’s female population have been looking forward to. That’s right; Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis will be performing in front of more than 50,000 screaming girls (and yes, I’ll be one of them). I finally got my tickets this morning and I’m ridiculously excited. I even managed to find the Set List for tonight which has made me even more excited!! If by any chance you notice a deranged 27 year old dancing around like a fool in the red standing section come over and say ‘Hi’, I don’t bite.

I actually thought I’d be the oldest person on the pitch but it would seem a few of you on Facebook are hitting 60 and still planning on having a wild night! I hope you all have an amazing time!!! Even though the weather is awful, it still hasn’t dampened our spirits. I can’t believe people were already queuing outside the stadium at 7 o clock this morning!

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for another chance to win tickets to the races with me and Mr Morgan! I will be here, but whether or not you’ll be able to hear me is a different question! I can’t guarantee I’ll have a voice left after tonight!!!

Those 5 lads don’t know what they’ve let themselves in for......Wearside Welcomes you One Direction. #SUNFM1D

The Return of Morgan in the Morning

27th May 2014

Morgan in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

He’s back! That’s right, for one week only John Morgan will be coming out of your speakers. Simon’s treating himself to a relaxing trip to France and John’s kindly stepped in to keep his seat warm while he’s away and keep me company.

We kicked off our new competition this morning, giving you the chance to win premier tickets to the Northumberland Plate Day at Newcastle Races. It’s ridiculously easy to win, just answer 4 general knowledge questions correctly and you’re in; the questions aren’t even related to horse racing.

We also had a little History lesson today and John was pleasantly surprised when he found out I have a History degree......although surprise turned to shock when I didn’t know what happened in 1666! I think I was off the day they taught that. Thanks to Annie who called in to kindly remind me that the Great Fire of London happened in 1666.......tomorrows lesson will be maths.

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for what can only be described as One Direction Fever!! Over 50,000 screaming girls will be arriving at the Stadium of Light to see the world’s biggest boy band perform in our lovely city. We’ll be giving away even more tickets so don’t miss out!

One Direction madness

23rd May 2014

Simon Grundy in the morning

Here’s what you missed........

Well after much teasing, Simon finally played those 2 One Direction songs you’ve all been waiting for as part of our Double Dose of One Direction. Our lucky listener was Kim McAllister from Ryhope who was over the moon!!! She’s planning on taking her daughter who just turned 18 at the weekend. Don’t feel sad if you didn’t win; I heard through the grapevine that we’ve got even more tickets to giveaway but ssshhhh, keep it to yourself!

With only 5 days to go till the world’s biggest boy band graces our city, Denise Brown sent us an amazing video of the moment her 8 year old daughter Rhianna found out she was going to the concert. She’s so overwhelmed and excited at the same time she cries her eyes out!!!! If you haven’t seen it yet, get to our Facebook page and give it a watch, I guarantee you’ll end up with a lump in your throat.

Yet again we have another Bank Holiday to look forward to and Simon’s even more excited than usual. It could be because he has a lovely week off planned and I can guarantee his beloved camper van will already be stocked up for his road trip to France. I on the other hand will not be having a week off in the sun, instead I’ll be joined by the one and only John Morgan!!! That’s right, he’s back from Tuesday and if the last time he was on the show is anything to go by it’s definitely going to be entertaining!

Enjoy your Bank Holiday everyone........let’s hope the sun comes out to play!
