Business Services Coordinator

Rapid Windows North East Limited have a long-standing tradition of manufacturing in Seaham. With their main premises on Seaham Grange Industrial Estate, they manufacture uPVC windows, doors and conservatories, supplying to both trade and domestic customers nationally. Due to the success and growth of the business Rapid now requires a Business Services Coordinator to assist the management function.

Brief Overview of the Role

Supporting the Director of this busy manufacturing company, based over 2 sites in Seaham and Sunderland a Business Services Coordinator is required to oversee Human/People Resources, Health and Safety and Quality Management. This role brings together the overall management of key business functions and involves the maintenance of product and business certification and adherence to all legal and reporting requirements of the Glass, Glazing and Fenestration Industries.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain and update CE Marking Systems including overall management of Factory Production Control.
  • Conduct quality checks ensuring logging system is up-to-date and measurement tools are accurate.
  • Liaise with Auditing Bodies and guide audit visits.
  • Oversee test schedule for all work equipment in line with PUWER (1998).
  • Oversee training for all staff in line with job role requirements.
  • Conduct employee Health and Safety Inductions.
  • Advise line managers on Health and Safety Issues.
  • Maintain adequate Personal Protective Equipment Inventory and issue.
  • Conduct hazard checks and reports and corrective actions.
  • Maintain up to date risk assessments and standard operating procedures including COSHH.
  • Conduct Health and Safety Briefings.
  • Maintain up to date signage.
  • Liaise with Health and Safety Inspectors.
  • Liaise with the Fire Brigade.
  • Oversee all First Aid and Incident Reporting including reporting via RIDDOR to HSE.
  • Maintain appropriate First Aid Inventory.
  • Manage Health Surveillance in line with identified risks.
  • Conduct recruitment campaigns.
  • Oversee employee compliance, competency, grievance and disciplinary procedures.
  • Review HR policy as required.
  • Be point of contact for employee queries.
  • Maintain HR records including provision and agreement of staff contracts.
  • Promote equal opportunities at Rapid.

Qualifications and Skills

Skills and Experience

Ideally you will have direct relevant experience of delivering Health and Safety or Human Resources services.

Quality Management experience or knowledge is desirable but not essential.

Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

Excellent English and report writing and IT skills are essential.

Ability to manage and prioritise multiple, high importance demands is required.

Ability to work across disciplines, functions, sites and departments is required.

A knowledge of the Fenestration Industry is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications Required

Business Management with accreditation in the functions of HR, H&S and Quality Management at level 3 or above.

Managing Health and Safety at level 3 or above.

Good General Standard of Education including O-level/GCSE/CSE in English and Maths.


The role requires a full-time commitment but is open to job share with negotiable hours.

A remuneration package is offered commensurate with candidate’s experience.
