TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

With doors opening at 12 noon and the event expected to close at 10pm, peak travel times are anticipated to be between 10 am and 12 noon and from 10.30pm onwards .

The entire Sheepfolds Industrial Estate to the south of the arena will be subject to tight traffic restrictions on concert days, with roads completely closed to the public and non-emergency vehicles.

Drivers are also advised that two of the three northbound lanes on the Wearmouth Bridge will be closed between 10pm and 1am on the evening of the concert to protect pedestrians.

PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF POINTS

Vehicles from the south are advised to take the A1018 and A690 exits from the A19 and drop visitors off in the city centre, with the Stadium of Light just a five-minute walk away.

Vehicles from the north and west are advised to use Sunderland Enterprise Park – accessible via the A1231 Wessington Way, which is also the event’s main Park and Walk site.

For the concert, a special family meeting point will also be in operation, next to St Peter’s Metro station. The route to the meeting point is safe, well lit and pedestrian only.

PARKING

There is no public parking available on the stadium complex, with parking immediately around the Stadium of Light also extremely restricted.

Sunderland Enterprise Park is the city’s main Park and Walk facility for the event, with access to the Stadium of Light taking around 20-30 minutes.

Sunderland City Council has a number of car parks in operation across the city, with spaces available at sites including St Mary’s, Sunniside and the Civic Centre, open until 1am and patrolled by parking attendants.

In order to decrease congestion in car parks following the concerts, pre paid parking will be available at St Mary’s and Sunniside car parks. To take up this offer drivers are requested to take a ticket from the barrier, park their vehicle and proceed to the car parks main office (with ticket) to purchase the period of parking they require. Normal charges will apply and tickets will only be valid for the period purchased.

Prices for St Mary's are £1.10 per hour (8am - 6pm) and 50p per hour thereafter, and for Sunniside are 90p per hour (8am - 6pm) and 50p per hour thereafter. The concerts are expected to end by 11pm, and visitors must purchase enough parking time to cover their stay.

To find out more about the concerts go to the official concert website www.safcconcerts.com.
