Students from Sunderland College's painting and decorating level 1 course, have been out on the road.

They've been learning new skills while working outside the classroom, and in real life working environments.

Phoebe Collins is a 17 year old, hoping to encourage more girls into the industry.

The Sunderland teenager is hoping other young females see her as an example to follow.

Phoebe from Pennywell, is studying her painting and decorating level 1.

She's been learning new skills and has this advice for other girls.

Leigh Wiley, painting and decorating lecturer at Sunderland College, says:

“We are really pleased to offer our services to Sun FM. Taking part in placements such as this gives our students the chance to use the practical skills they have learned on their course and apply them to a real working environment."

"We are keen for our students to undertake a range of work experience opportunities – not only does it advance their skills further, but it also helps prepare them for their future careers once they leave college.”
