Last chance to have your say on Washington renewable energy site

A public consultation comes to an end today, over a renewable energy centre planned for Washington.

Project developer Rolton Kilbride have been urging residents, to make their views known on the proposed site at Hillthorn Farm Enterprise Zone.

They've amended their planning application for the site, which it's said could power up to 45 thousand homes on Wearside, as a result of feedback.

The firm will now submit papers to Sunderland City Council for approval.

If given the green light, it could be constructed within 4 to 5 years time.

Andrew Needham, Rolton Kilbride's managing director, say changes have been made to quash concerns.
