A yellow weather warning's in place for the North East coastline for icy roads.

Drivers are being warned of treacherous conditions as snow and ice affect much of the North and Eastern parts of the UK.

Due to the recent snowfall several road traffic collisions have happened on the A19 around the Castle Eden area, on the northbound carriageway.

Durham Constabulary are urging drivers to take extra care.

At least 15 thousand homes are without power across England and Wales.

Scotland's seen temperatures plummet to minus 8 in some areas.

If you are traveling further afield for this period between Christmas and New Year, be aware there are at least 14 flood warnings and nearly 100 flood alerts issued.

They are mainly in south-western and central England, because of heavy rain.

The Met Office is also warning of rain and snow in many areas of England and Wales this morning, along with ice in parts of Scotland and the North Eastern coast of England.
