Sun FM jobs campaign breaks the £1 million mark

Sunderland from air 3

3:17pm 17th January 2018
(Updated 8:50am 18th January 2018)

Our campaign to get more people working has moved past the £1 million mark.

Our 'A Million Pounds Worth of Work for Wearside' is currently at £1,021,814.50.

Last year we raised over £3 million by the end of January.

In years gone-by, we've managed to bring together would-be employers with prospective employees, and we’re looking to get more people into work again for 2018.

The latest unemployment figures released last month showed the North East still has 77,000 job seekers in the region.

That is 5.9% of the population and the highest of all regions in the country.

Our hope is that we can impact on this, with our initiative helping people to find jobs.
