Sunderland cancer victim petition reaches over 350,000

Amber Rose Cliff and brother Josh Cliff

9:16am 22nd January 2018

There's a warning many young women aren't attending smear tests because they're embarrassed.

Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust has found they're worried about body image, and whether they're "normal".

The family of Amber Rose Cliff from Ashbrooke in Sunderland, who died aged 25 from the cancer, are aiming to make a law in her name, for under 25s to be offered screening.

A survey, by Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, shows a quarter of 25 to 64-year-olds don't take up the invitation.

But that's the case for a third of those aged between 25 and 29.

Over 350,000 people have signed the petition to change NHS guidelines to allow those under twenty-five-year-old have screenings.
