(Updated 9:37am 5th February 2018)

A main road that has been closed while work is carried out on the new Northern Spire bridge is to partly re-open this week in Sunderland.

Hylton Park Road will re-open to traffic, in contraflow, on Wednesday afternoon.

It is after a section of Timber Beach Road that runs parallel with Wessginton Way on the Business and Innovation Centre has been shut where it joins Hylton Park Road.

It was to allow construction on the road, which will now go under the new Wear crossing.
