Warning for South Tyneside residents and businesses
Residents and business owners in South Tyneside are being warned of possible delays.
People making online payments to the local authority and South Tyneside Homes are advised of a two day disruption to services due to essential maintenance on the system.
From 9am on Monday next week (12th February) to 9am the following Wednesday (14th February), residents and businesses will not be able to make any payments to either organisation using online e-services, over the phone or via Payment kiosks in South Shields and Jarrow town halls.
Payments made to libraries and leisure services will not be affected and will continue as normal.
While the website will continue to run as normal, a wide range of payment services will be unavailable, from making rent and Council Tax payments to paying invoices, premises hire or licence fees, electronically or over the phone.
A South Tyneside Council spokesperson said:
“We appreciate that many residents and businesses make their payments online as it is quick, easy and secure. However, this maintenance is necessary to ensure the continued smooth running of the electronic payment system in future."
“We are unable to carry out the work while it is operation so we have no choice but to temporarily shut it down. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
