Police appeal after an assault in South Shields

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 51 year old man was attacked in South Shields.

The incident happened at 7.45pm on Saturday, January 13, in Chichester Road. He suffered minor injuries as a result of being punched in the face.

Before the attack the man had been on the Metro, he got off at Chichester Metro station at around 7.30pm. It’s thought some of those responsible for the attack were also on the same Metro.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was on the Metro to get in contact with police.

Any witnesses should ring Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 1039 130118 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
