As we mark Valentine's Day, a special site in the history of Wearside, is aiming to raise 20 thousand pounds in six weeks.

The Churches Conservation Trust's 'Send Love to Sunderland' campaign kicked off this morning, to create the Canny Space project at Holy Trinity Church.
The site, which was once the heart of Sunderland, in the Eastend, reaches its 300th birthday next year.

Project Co-ordinator from the Churches Conservation Trust is Amanda Gerry.

We caught up with her earlier at the site to talk about what plans are in place for its future.

The team are awaiting the decision from the Heritage Lottery Fund as to whether they will support the transformation of Holy Trinity, Sunderland into the Canny Space.

That decision is expected in April this year.

The public appeal is to help raise £50,000 for the iconic church, they have already raised £30k from their Annual Appeal letter and associated campaign, and are looking to raise the remaining £20,000 in six weeks.
