LATEST: A1 delays after incident

UPDATE: 16:42

Both lanes are now open.

However, long delays are expected on the Southbound carriageway.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

The A1 has been closed in both directions due to an earlier incident.

A car has collided with a barrier between junctions 61 (Bowburn) and 60 (Bradbury).

There is stationary traffic in the area and motorists have been advised to use a different route.

An air ambulance is currently at the scene.
