Police appeal after a sexual assault on a teenager

Police are appealing for information following a sexual assault on teenage girl in Newcastle. 

The incident occurred in the underpass near McDonalds in Westerhope, yesterday (February 28) at about 1.30pm, whilst the teenager was out sledging with her family. 

An unknown male approached the teenager and proceeded to touch her clothing in a sexual manner without consent, before asking her to touch him back. 

The girl was unhurt, but was left shaken by the incident. 

Officers are carrying out enquiries and the suspect is described as being a white male, aged about 25. 

He is described as having a squashed nose and acne scars. He was wearing a dark hoodie, a dark coat and dark tracksuit bottoms. 

Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area to reassure the public and follow up enquiries. 

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we are now appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious or knows anything about the incident to get in touch.
