Saltburn explosion leaves thousands without power

Northern Powergrid back

10:07am 6th March 2018

A suspected explosion at an electricity substation left over 20-thousand properties on Teesside without power last night.

Fire crews were called to Windsor Road in Saltburn shortly before 7 o'clock.

No injuries were reported, but large areas of Saltburn, Redcar and Hartlepool were affected.

Northern Powergrid says electricity was restored to customers within two hours.

Tereena Haddow, who runs the nearby Saltburn Vets, filmed this footage of the incident and posted it on her Facebook page.
