A spirited young Sunderland side fell to a 5-0 defeat to Porto in the Premier League International Cup.

The Portugeuse side showed their class, going into the break 3-0 up. It could have been more but Sunderland keeper Max Stryjek saved a penalty, carrying on the goalkeeping heroics of Jordan Pickford from Tuesday night.

A competition-record 18,317 fans were in support of the U23's, but another two goals in quick succession in the second half from the visitors finished off a comprehensive victory.

The Wearsiders worked hard but were outplayed by an impressive FC Porto B, bringing this seasons action at the Stadium of Light to an end.
