SAFC owner reported to have slashed his asking price

Sunderland Owner Chairman Ellis Short

3:39pm 20th February 2018
(Updated 4:03pm 20th February 2018)

It's being reported that Sunderland owner Ellis Short is now open to selling the club for £50 million.

It's said that the American is looking to off-load the Wearsiders for a cut-price deal, with the club sitting second-bottom of the Championship table.

He's been the owner since 2009 and Sunderland AFC would not comment when approached by Sun FM.

The Black Cats, who are three points from safety, travel to Bolton tonight in what manager Chris Coleman is calling, 'The Game of the Season'.

But only this week, the Welshman admitted that Short had lost his passion for Sunderland:

"At a club like Sunderland there is incredible passion and a lot of supporters need people here who care about the club as much as them.

"There lies a problem, Ellis obviously wants to sell the club and they recognise that maybe his love for the club was maybe yesterday."

Before tonight's trip to Lancashire, Coleman tells Sun FM Sport that a performance can change the mood of the fans:

The match tonight kicks off 8pm.
