The Blue Peter time capsule full of viewer momentos was smashed open decades before it's 2050 opening date.

It happened as workers accidentally unearthed the retro treasure trove laying cables under the O2 Arena that was the Millennium Dome.

Blue Peter presenters buried items like a Spice Girls CD, photograph of Princess Diana, Tellytubby Toys, World Cup football, Tamagotchi toy and of course a Blue Peter badge inside.

The contents are safe and due to be reburied after being dug up 33 years early.
